Borderline Crossing were originally formed early millennium by Leicester-based singer-songwriter and all round music man, John Montague, along with Professor Neil Mercer on guitar/mandolin and Tim Smith on bass. The band expanded in 2015 when two more old friends, ex-Fat Freddy’s Cat singer Ian Spratley and singer-songwriter Phil Riley, joined the lineup.
As well as gigs in the UK, they regularly tour Germany, where they’ve increased their fan-base and popularity.
Borderline Crossing are perhaps unusual in that all five members sing and are therefore able to provide a wide range of styles and material – from jazz standards to reggae to pop to blues and country.
But don’t take our word for it:
“Blending fine musicianship and vocal harmony to a wide range of original and acoustic cover songs is something these guys do with ease and a smile. Making them hard to pigeon hole in one music style but they have something for everyone and are really worth a listen. Be prepared to get your toes tapping !!” Dave Carroll.
Or have a listen to a few our songs.
Borderline Crossing are based in and around Leicestershire and Milton Keynes, UK.
